Public Policy
We at the Alliance for Vigilance believe that the first responsibility of any government is to protect the life, liberty and property of its citizenry. Without such protection, all other freedoms are in jeopardy. Further, in many respects, we believe that the current situation we face with the threat posed by militant Islam is much like that of 1938 when the world slept while a storm gathered in Nazi Germany. Those who forget the mistakes of history are destined to repeat them.
The AFV wants to influence public policy by educating decision makers, both directly and through grass roots efforts, so that they understand more fully the threat posed by militant Islam and how to fight this threat most effectively. In furtherance of our goal, we are currently studying several public policy initiatives. Among those initiatives is a project, in cooperation with the local and federal governments, to review the textbooks and curriculum of the Islamic Saudi Academy to determine whether these institutions are teaching violence and resistance to the government. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom is looking for an independent and comprehensive review by someone who is not only competent in Arabic but competent in Islam . The Director of Islamic Studies for the Alliance is well-qualified to do such a review and has volunteered his services. If it is found that that the ISA is teaching violence and intolerance of other religions the Federal Government will recommend that they be shut down.
Further, the Alliance is working with state and local officials, civic organizations, attorneys and community activitists to address issues of concern in several states and assist in drafting legislation to address those concerns. In addition, the Alliance is working with elected officials to hold "Town Hall" meetings to help educate the citizenry on these issues.
Other measures are being considered as well. For more information or to give us your ideas, please contact us.
